There are places that bring the past and the present together in a blend of time-honoured tradition and respectful progress. The stately Hoel Farm is such a place. Situated in the rolling countryside of the Nes peninsula in Lake Mjøsa, the Hoel Farm offers high-quality accommodation and exquisite meals in an atmosphere of tranquillity and hospitality that delights travellers from near and far. Hoel Farm is mentioned in one of the Norse king sagas relating events from the 13th century, and the oldest object in the farm museum is a 6th-century bronze buckle. Today Hoel is a living farm with modern poultry, grain and potato production.
The view to Mjøsa is dazzling in all kinds of weather. Most of our guests arrive by car, but in summer, you can reach Hoel by boat, and even sail in on the world's oldest operating paddle steamer, Skibladner, that runs between the towns around the lake as she has done since 1856. You can arrange to be picked up at the pier by one of our veteran cars.
Hoel is the perfect choice for conferences, strategy meetings, family celebrations and cultural events. We can serve you a traditional meal in our farm kitchen or an elegant five-course dinner in one of our dining halls. Either way, you will experience the unique combination of Norwegian simplicity and princely comfort that has made Hoel a noted cultural heritage venue.
